AUI-S women dominate tournment

By Mahdi Abdulla Murad and Hussein A. Hussein

www.auisvoice.org
For the first time in the history of AUI-S, sports teams faced players from southern Iraq.
The women’s basketball and volleyball teams scored victories. The men’s soccer team lost 3-1, and the women’s soccer team lost 1-0 against Karbala University. The men’s volleyball team lost both its games, while the ping pong team won in the last event of the competition.

“It was amazing competition for AUI-S,” said Sahar Jamal, 19, from Baghdad. “Winning and the results are not important. What is important is that we supported the AUI-S teams. I hope we have more sport tournament in the future.”

Fans of the tournament said the highlight was the women’s basketball game, which Jamal described as the most amazing game because there were a lot of people there, and the players showed the real basketball game.

That game almost didn’t happen. The coach of the Karbala team said AUI-S had too many extra players.

“It is not right according to international rules to have 20 players,” Habeeb Ali, of Karbala University, said in Arabic. “I told the referee to judge neither by Karbala’s rules nor by AUI-S’s rules. I want you to apply the international rules.”

The dispute was resolved, and the game went on, according to the referee.

“There was a misconception between the two teams’ coaches,” Saman Burhan, 26, the referee, said in Arabic. “The AUI-S team brought 20 players, yet the Karbala’s coach said that the AUI-S team has to play with 12 players. Then they had an agreement, and the game went on.”

Burhan said both of the teams are good, but they need more training. Muhammed Ahmed, 25, from Babylon, an AUI-S student who has played with the Iraqi Olympic team, is credited for making the tournament happen.

“I found Karbala University to have a league with,” he said.
Ahmed said 24 players came from Karbala University and stayed at a motel in Sulaimani, which AUI-S funded for two days.

A men’s soccer match was cancelled at the last minute.

“I was really disappointed when we couldn’t play the second game in the big field because our soccer team was ready to play that game,” said Andy Watkins, the AUI-S men’s soccer coach.
“The thing I really liked about our players is that they played toughly. They didn’t play like other teams. They did not play to win by falling down and depending on fouls.”

One day before the Karbala team leaves Sulaimani, AUI-S invited their players to the Bowling Center, and they had a good time with some of the AUI-S teachers, staffs, and students.

Karbala University invited AUI-S to go to southern Iraq whenever AUI-S would like to go.

Ahmed said the purpose behind organizing this league is to make a good relationship between AUI-S and other Iraqi universities.

Mryam Armen, 19, an AUI-S basketball player, from Baghdad, said she was really enthusiastic about winning.

“I couldn’t imagine that our team would win the game because a few minutes before the game finished, the opponents were ahead of us by many points,” she said. “Fortunately, we won.”

Armen said it is good to have a sport tournament.

“It was really good for the reputa- tion of our University and our athletes,” she said. “The AUI-S sport teams and the players proved that they are players, and they can play very well. They proved that AUI-S has real athletes and sport teams.”

Shilan Salih, 21, an AUI-S volley- ball player, from Derbandixan, said it was their first time to play against another team.

“I hope we will have more activi- ties similar or bigger than this activity in each semester,” she said. “Moreover, I hope to see many girls to join the AUI-S women’s volley- ball team to have more fun and extend every kind of sports at AUI-S.”

Huda Majed, 20, a Karbala’s women basketball player, who studies in the Physics department, said she enjoyed the competition.

“The game was nice. Every match ends with either winning or losing, and we did our best. We were six players because AUI-S said to bring just six players, but AUI-S’s team had many alternative players, so they could switch players during the match. We did not have alternative players, so we got tired. They are a good team. We are volleyball players, yet we played football, and we won.”

AUI-S students, teachers debate merits of plagiarism policy

By Mahdi Abdullah
AUIS Voice Staff Reporter
www.auisvoice.org

AUI-S has a strict policy for students who plagiarize, dismissing EWPLI students from the University with four offenses and dismissing academic students with three. The policy is stated in the Student Handbook.

John Agresto, AUI-S provost, defined plagiarism, describing it a kind of stealing.

“Taking someone else’s words and have a people think that it is yours,” he said. “It is taking credit for something that is not yours.”
Rosalind Warfield, director of EWPLI, said plagiarism is a huge problem all over the world.

“It is a problem for two reasons,” she said. “One is because many people don’t know what it is, so they make mistake innocently. Second, the people who do know what it is, but they think that they can get away from being caught. It is a crime in any levels, and it is a breach of trust between the teachers and the students.”

Warfield added that the teachers should make sure that their students have enough information about plagiarism.

“My message for the teachers is that make sure the students know what plagiarism is, make sure you’ve taught them well, make sure to understand them why it is important, what it is, and how to avoid it,” she said. “Do your job to make sure the students know about it.”

Specifically, Warfield said EWPLI teachers should instruct the students that quoting is not as useful as paraphrasing.

“AUI-S professor Roger Geyer said warning academic students three times before dismissing them from the University is a reasonable punishment.

“Plagiarism is not an easy problem to overcome,” he said.

Geyer added he has never committed plagiarism in his academic life.
“I’ve never wanted to be passed through cheating. I never like it. Anytime you cheat or copy, you really diminishing your self. Once when I get a student cheat I will be very upset with that student,” he said.

Richard Gray, a Level 4 teacher, said the school policy is much lenient than him concerning plagiarism.

“In my class there is no negotiation,” he said. “If you plagiarized, you’ll face serious consequences. There is no way you’ll have three chances in my class. You’ll be lucky if you survived after one time.”

Gray said that he usually has sense if a student plagiarized.

Geoffrey Gresk, a lecturer in Level 4, said plagiarism might be a good excuse for the first day in Level 1, but it is just not acceptable for the other levels.

“There is no excuse for any of my students to plagiarize,” he said. “One they know from previous teachers and previous levels that is not acceptable in the American system. Two, even if one of my students didn’t learn that from previous levels, they have learned from me, we talked about it at the first day of the class, and they all understand what plagiarism is.”

Grisk said the students can use the Internet for plagiarism, and teachers can use it to detect plagiarism.

Aws Muhammed, 19, from Baghdad, said that not all AUI-S students have enough information about plagiarism.

“The rules about plagiarism are not clear especially for the new students,” said Muhammed, who is a Level 4 student.” They simply don’t know how to define the word plagiarism itself.”
But Suzan Khalid, 20, from Kirkuk, said that all AUI-S students do know about plagiarism.

“There is not any excuse for any students to plagiarize,” she said. “The teachers explain plagiarism perfectly. All students know that plagiarism is a problem. The only students who are lazy and don’t work hard will plagiarize.”

Christine Vandeen Toorn- A lecture in reading level 4- said if a students understand why plagiarism is wrong, then they hopefully would not do it.

“If you plagiarize especially in learning English, you are not actually learning,” she said.
Vandeen Toorn added that the AUI-S students are smart enough to know what plagiarism is.

“I don’t think that AUI-S students have any excuse to say that they don’t understand plagiarism.” She said, “How should AUI-S students be in that low level?”

Carolyn R. Caldwell, assistant professor, said that grade is a critical issue.

“The biggest problem for college students is that they are not trying to receive education but to get good grade,” she said. “When the pressure is on them to get good grade, that makes them do things that they wouldn’t normally do.”

R. Cardwell added that the rule is fair and pretty strict, but she feels badly about it.
Aryan Barzan 22, from Darbandikhan, said that some of the students have gotten used to plagiarism.

“There are students who used to copy materials in secondary and high school.” He said, “They still continue to do that at AUIS even they have learnt enough about plagiarism and don’t have any excuse.”

Barzan complained about GPA system.

“GPA system has bad effects on the students to think about copying and plagiarism.” He said.

R. Cardwell added her thought concerning GPA system.

“GPA system absolutely has effect on students.” She said, “They need to get a good grade; they need to keep their scholarship because it is expensive to go to school here, so they always try to get a good opportunity to get their goal, good grade and to keep their scholar ship, but I don’t have an easy answer as how we correct that problem.”

Barzan complains that all teachers don’t apply the policy regarding plagiarism in the same way.

“Some of the teachers are very strict, but some others are just careless,” he said. “I don’t think that AUI-S policy is strict with plagiarism. We have examples of students who were caught plagiarising, and there were not any kinds of punishments. The issue is still going on.”

Kosar Ghalib Taha-20- From Kirkuk- said that AUI-S teachers are too nice about plagiarism.
“AUIS student plagiarize a lot. I know the students that 3\4 of their work is plagiarism, but I can’t understand why the teachers don’t know about this.”

But Agresto said that he would punish any teachers who don’t apply for the rules.

“All teachers are supposed to apply for these rules,” he said. “You find me a teacher that doesn’t apply for these rules; I’m going to punish him. I want everybody to apply the rules and be strict with the rules.”

When It comes to relationships, students torn between cultures

By Mahdi Abdulla Murad

AUI-S Voice Staff Reporter
www.auisvoice.org

Some say AUI-S may be Western but their viewpoints are very Eastern

Some AUI-S students say they feel caught between cultures as they explore a more Western style of relationships in an Eastern place.

Many are trying to figure out the rules of friendships and relationships while studying at an American university for the first time.

Laylan Amir, 19, from Sulaimani, said she is a strong advocate for the friendship between men and women.

“For me I don’t see any differences,” she said. “It is just like girls with girls.” But she is worried about what other people think, she said.

“I don’t believe in love, and I will never do it while I’m studying because it has bad effects on my studying,” she said.

But Renas Hassan, 19, from Ranya, said she personally does believe in love.

“It’s not important for me that a person whom I want to be my future partner to be near or far,” she said. “The important is that I want someone that should be difficult to be seen. I don’t want to be with him every time and everyday because you can’t enjoy anything when you don’t have any difficulties with it.”

Haven Gulabakh, 19, from Sulaimani, said that when she first came to the University, she didn’t talk to anyone. Now she talks to both men and women.

“I have a normal relationship with boys, but still I have to know them better,” she said. “I will decide to be their friends so as to understand each other very well and to avoid misunderstanding.”

She criticized the way students sometimes choose their friends at the University by social class.
“Friendship depends on the student’s personalities,” she said.

Khende Zrar, 20, from Erbil, said her friendships with men are stronger because she doesn’t like what women talk about.

“Girls always talk about something that I hate to talk about such as family, vacations, their goals, clothes and they always proud their selves, but boys will never talk about such things, so I’m happier to be friend with boys than girls,” she said.

Ryan Bubalo, the deputy director of the EWPLI program, added his thoughts.

“I think the relationship between boys and girls is really helpful with a nice balance of men and women in any sort of diversity,” he said. “It leads to better discussion, and it helps to more dynamic classrooms.

Bubalo said it is not impossible to be in love at the University but too much of anything can be a bad thing.

“it has bad effect in the process of studying if they talk to each other for four hours per night. Part of the college is to know a lot of different people. If you spend all your time with just one person, talking with just one person, or thinking only about one person, then you miss a lot of opportunities around you,” he explained.

Ali Farooq, 22, from Baghdad, said he came from an all-boys school before AUI-S.

“First when I entered AUI-S, I felt really enthusiastic because I saw a strong relationship between boys and girls, especially when they walk and talk to each other without any differences,” he said, adding that he is one of the strong advocator for being in love.

“Being in love is really helpful if you act with it normally,” he said. “I will be in love if I have a chance.“

Saman Mahir, 20, from Duhok, said there are not enough women at AUI-S, and he suggested that AUI-S should accept more women than men.

“We have a small number of girls at AUI-S,” he said. “More girls should be accepted by AUI-S than boys.”

Peter Friedrich, the AUI-S director of athletics, said what is happening at AUI-S is not unique.

“Respecting each other and understanding the difficulties of studying here at AUI-S is a good place to start any relationship,” he said.

Friedrich says that love could be amazing disaster.

“Love can be a potential disaster anywhere, but also has potential for some others amazing thing,” he said. “If it didn’t have those qualities, we will have less love songs and romantic movies [like] Titanic, for example.”

Rojgar Ahmad, 21, from Sulaimani, said AUI-S doesn’t give students enough time to fall in love.

“Students have a lot of study,” she said. “They just have time to study and do their homework. They don’t have time to spend with their boyfriends and girlfriends.”

“The Ten Most Dangerous Mistakes YOU ProbablyMake With Women—

Here Are The Top Ten Reasons Why Men Fail With Women—And How To Make Sure YOU Avoid Every One Of These Deadly Common Mistakes...

MISTAKE #1: BeingToo Much Of A “Nice Guy”
Have you ever noticed that the really attractive women never seem to be attracted to "nice" guys?
Of course you have.
Just like me, I'm sure you've had attractive female friends that always seemed to date "jerks"... but for some reason they were never romantically interested in YOU.
What's going on here?
It's actually very simple...
Women don't base their choices of men on how "nice" a guy is. They choose the men they do because they feel a powerful GUT LEVEL ATTRACTION for them.
And guess what?
Being nice doesn't make a woman FEEL that powerful ATTRACTION.
And being NICE doesn't make a woman CHOOSE you.
I realize that this doesn't make a lot of logical sense, and it's hard to ACCEPT... but GET OVER IT.
Until you accept this FACT and begin to act on it, you'll NEVER have the success with women that you want.
MISTAKE #2: Trying To“Convince Her To Like You"
What do most guys do when they meet a woman that they REALLY like... but she's just notinterested?
Right! They try to "convince" the woman to feel differently.
Well, I have news for you... YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE HOW A WOMAN "FEELS" WHEN IT COMES TO ATTRACTION!
Never, ever, EVER.
You cannot CONVINCE a woman to feel differently about you with "logic and reasoning".
Think about it.
If a woman doesn't "feel it" for you, how in the world do you expect to change that FEELING by being "reasonable" with her?
But we all do it.
When a woman just isn't interested, we beg, plead, chase, and do our best to change her mind.
Bad idea. One that will never work.
MISTAKE #3: Looking To HerFor Approval Or Permission
In our desire to please women (which we mistakenly think will make them like us), us guys are always doing things to get a woman's "approval" or "permission".
Another HORRIBLE idea.
Women are NEVER attracted to the types of men who kiss up to them... EVER.
Don't get me wrong here.
You don't have to treat women BADLY for them to like you.
But if you think that treating a woman well means "always getting her approval and permission for things", think again.
You will never succeed by looking for approval. Women actually get ANNOYED at men who seek their approval.
Doubt me? Just ask any attractive woman if Wussy guys who chase her around and want her approval annoy her...
MISTAKE #4: Trying To “Buy” Her Affection With Food And Gifts
How many times have you taken a woman out to a nice dinner, bought her gifts and flowers, and had her REJECT you for someone who didn't treat her even HALF as well as you did?
If you're like me, then you've had it happen a LOT.
Well guess what?
It's only NATURAL when this happens...
That's right, I said NATURAL.
When you do these things, you send a clear message:
"I don't think you'll like me for who I am, so I'm going to try to buy your attention and affection".
Your good intentions usually come across to women as over-compensation for insecurity, and weak attempts at manipulation. That's right, I said that women see this as MANIPULATION.
MISTAKE #5: Sharing“How You Feel” Too Early InThe Relationship With Her
Another huge and unfortunate mistake that most men make with women is sharing how they "feel" too early on.
Attractive women are rare.
And they get a LOT of attention from men.
Most men don't realize this, but attractive women are being approached in one way or another ALL THE TIME.
An attractive woman is often approached several times a DAY by men who are interested. This translate into dozens of times per week, and often HUNDREDS of times per month.
And guess what?
Attractive women have usually dated a LOT of men.
That's right. They have EXPERIENCE.
They know what to expect.
And one thing that turns an attractive women off and sends her running away faster than just about anything is a guy who starts saying "You know, I really, REALLY like you" after one or two dates.
This signals to the woman that you're just like all the other guys who fall for her too fast... and can't control themselves.
Don't do it. Lean back. Relax.
There's a much better way...
MISTAKE #6: Not “Getting” How Attraction Works For Women
Women are VERY different from men when it comes to ATTRACTION.
You need to accept this fact, and deal with it.
When a man sees a beautiful, young, sexy woman, he INSTANTLY feels a sexual attraction.
But does the same apply for women?
Do women feel sexual attraction to men based mostly on looks? Or is something else going on?
Well, after studying this topic for over five full years now, I can tell you that women usually have their "attraction mechanisms" triggered by things OTHER than looks.
Have you ever noticed that you see a lot more average and unattractive men with beautiful women than the other way around?
Think about it.
Women are more attracted to certain qualities in men... and they're attracted to the way a man makes them FEEL than they are to looks alone.
If you know how to use your body language and communication correctly, you can make women feel the same kind of powerful sexual attraction to you that YOU feel when you see a hot, sexy young woman.
But it's not an accident. You have to LEARN how to do this.
And ANY guy can learn how...
MISTAKE #7: Thinking That ItTakes Money And Looks
One of the most common mistakes that guys make is giving up before they've even gotten started... because they think that attractive women are only interested in men who have looks and money... or guys who are a certain height... or guys who are a certain age.
And sure, there are some women who are only interested in these things.
But MOST women are far more interested in a man's personality than his wallet or his looks.
There are personality traits that attract women like a magnet...
And if you learn what they are and how to use them, YOU can be one of these guys.
YOU DO NOT have to "settle" for a woman just because you aren't rich, tall, or handsome.
Let me say this again: If you know how to use your body language and communication correctly, you can make women feel the same kind of powerful sexual attraction to you that YOU feel when you see a hot, sexy young woman.
MISTAKE #8: Giving AwayAll Of Your Power To Women
Earlier I mentioned that it's a mistake to look to a woman for approval or permission.
Well, another similar tactic that a lot of guys use is GIVING AWAY THEIR POWER to women.
Said differently, guys try to get women to like them by doing whatever the woman wants.
Another bad idea...
Women are NEVER attracted to men that they can walk all over... Women aren't attracted to Wussies!
MISTAKE #9: Not KnowingEXACTLY What To Do In EachType Of Situation With Women
Now I'm going to blow your mind...
A woman ALWAYS knows what you're thinking.
Women are approximately TEN TIMES better than men at reading body language. That's ten TIMES.
I know, it might be hard to believe. But for example, if you're out on a date with a woman, and you want to kiss her, she knows it.
And if you don't know exactly what to do and exactly HOW to kiss her, and you just sit there looking at her and getting nervous, she won't help!
And this goes for ALL aspects of women and dating...
Approaching a woman, getting her number, asking her out, kissing her, getting physical... everything.
If you don't know what to do in each situation, you will probably screw it up... and LOSE EVERYTHING.
And you KNOW it.
It is VITALLY important that you know EXACTLY how to go from one step to the next with a woman... from the first meeting, all the way to the bedroom.
MISTAKE #10: Not Getting HELP
This is the biggest mistake of all.
This is the mistake that keeps most men from EVER having the kind of success with women that they truly want.
I know, guys don't like to make themselves look weak or helpless. We don't like to ask for help.
Hey, I've been there myself.
Let me tell you a little about me and how I figured out how to be successful with women...
About five years ago I became fed up with the fact that I didn't know how to approach, meet, and get dates with women that I was attracted to.
It frustrated the hell out of me.
One night I was out with a friend, and I saw a woman I wanted to ask out, but I just couldn't get up the nerve to do it. I can still remember that night... right on the spot I made the decision to do whatever it took to learn how to be successful with women and dating.
Well, after a lot of hard work and trying all kinds of crazy things, I finally figured it all out.
I can now approach just about any woman and get her number almost instantly. I've dated models, I've dated actresses, and I've dated nice, normal, regular girls as well.
It has been a very rewarding experience. I no longer feel that sick, insecure feeling... like I don't know how to meet women... and I might wind up alone.
I know that anytime, anywhere, I can go out and meet attractive women.
I've written a book on the topic, and I've done seminars on both coasts of the United States... and taught tens of thousands of men all around the world.

There is No Diety Except Allah

Prophet Muhammad was born in 575 CE in Mecca. His father, Abdulla, died several weeks before his birth. His mother died when he was six years old. He was raised by his paternal grandfather”Abd al Mutatalib” until the age of eight, and after his grandfather’s death by Abu Talib, his uncle. Muhammad was a descendant of Prophet Ismail. When he was twenty-five, he got marry with a merchant widow, named Khadijah. At that time, Khadijah was twice widowed. Muhammad and Khadijah were the parents of six children, four daughters and two sons. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), had many affects on the people’s life generally. He introduced Allah to the people. He taught the people to behave respectably with each other, and try to cheer up the people. He made almost the people to be honest because he was known as honest among the people.

The best thing that Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), has made clear a lot of necessary subjects that the people were worried about on that time. The best one is introducing God to the people. The mission of Prophet Muhammad was to restore the worship of the one True God, the creator and sustainer of the universe. He could clear to people that Allah is the proper name of the one True God. Who doesn’t have a partner or associate, and he didn’t beget nor was he begotten. Also the word Allah doesn’t have plural or gender. This information about Allah was very necessary in that time because people were living without thinking. Each nation or a group of people has chosen their own God. .He could make the people to accept Islam by testifying that “There is no Deity (worthy of worship) except Allah (The one True God) and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” according to the Qur’an. This was made the people to think about a lot of things, for example, creating human and universe. Also he changed the community to think about creating human by publishing Qur’an among them, and he explained every parts of Qur’an that Allah sent it to him by an angel who named Gibrel. Allah has sent Qur’an to Muhammad step by step by step. Also Muhammad has explained it to the people, and he has published it among the people. Qur’an is a book that included much information about every cases concerning Humanity life: Such as creating universe, human, Sun. stars, moon…Etc. Scientist are collect a lot of information concerning the natural event and creating human by dealing with information on the Qur’an.

Muhammad was popularly known as "Al-Ameen" for his unimpeachable character by the people. The title Al-Ameen means the honest and the trust worthy. It is describe the personal quality of honesty that is so complete, and it cannot be doubted or criticized. Muhammad has always advised the people to be honest because he thought that it is the best habit to the people's personality. Although Islam is very strange and eccentric to the people at first, but Prophet Muhammad was well known by honest; therefore most of them trusted him. Honesty is a good habit that our Prophet taught us. Honesty is the best habit among the people because it is the best way to make the people live with peace life. Honesty can make the people to think about each other like one family. It can make the people to help, and protect each other in any cases.

All in all, I totally agree with my Prophet's recommendation concerning life, religion, heaven, and hell. He is the only one that has many good effects on my life. Every good behavior's that I do is only refers to his advises. He is the only one that his speeches have many effects on me.

When Not to Use Your Head

For on time or another, probbably everyone has had the feeling that something just wasn't right even for one time or more than onw times, and also, everyone has had the opposite idea. Nowadays, after a long time of study, psycologistists think that they figured out the definitation of intuition and the ways of using it. Some professors Malcom Westcott, for example, reported among the people to find out why some people are better than the others to solve the problems. According to Dr. Westcott, "this knowledge and experience we carry inside is a key component of intuition." Also, according to Herbert Simon ( A nobel prize winner at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg), we can improve our punches throw experience. many successful people in their careers such as science, bussiness, the arts, and sports stated that their successful is obtained via many parts of their intuition. Many experts think that doing homework, getting out from the problems, belivie in experience, and double checking hunches are the best gude to discover the ways of using our intuitions.

What is Islam?

Islam is an Arabic word which means: to submit or surrender to God, and those who accept Islam means those who have accepted the message of peace by submission to God are known as Muslims. Islam is the second largest category of religions in the world.

The Prophet of Islam is Muhammad (Pbuh). He was forty, during the month of Ramadan; he received the first revelation from the Angel Gabriel. The cave Hira in the mountain Jabal-Al-Nour was a place where the Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation. Gabriel visited him as commended by Allah. Allah is the proper name in Arabic for the one and only God, the creator and sustainer of the universe. Gabriel also visited the Prophet throughout his mission. On the first appearance, Gabriel told Muhammad:"Iqraa" which means read or recite. He answered, "I cannot read," because he had not received any formal education and did not know how to read or write. The Angel Gabriel embraced him until he reached the limit of his endurance and after releasing said, "Iqraa" Muhammad's answer was the same as before. Gabriel repeated the embrace for the third time, asked him to repeat after him and said:

Recite in the name of your Lord who created! He created man from what which clings. Recite and thy Lord is most Bountiful, who has taught by pen, taught man what he knew not.

These revelations are first five verses of Surah(chapter) of the Qur'an. Thus, it was in the year 610 CE the revelation began.

When Muhammad reached his home, he was tired and frightened. He asked Khadija(his wife) to cover him with a blanket. After his fear had somewhat a bated, his wife asked him about the reason of his great anxiety and fear. After that, he told his wife the whole story and added that he is expected Prophet. Khadija accepted the revelation as truth and was the first person to accept Islam.

The revelations that he received were sometimes a few verses, part of chapter or the whole chapter. Some of them came down in response to an inquiry by nonbelievers. The revealed verses were recorded on a variety of available materials such as leather, palm, leaves, bark, and shoulder bones of animals. They memorized as soon as they were revealed and recited in daily prayers by Muslims. Also, the Angel Gabriel taught him the order and arrangement of verses in that order.

Koran is the most holy book in Islam. All the revealed verses (over a period 23 years and ending 632 CE) were complied in the Qur'an. Name Qur'an appears in the revealed verses. The Qur'an doesn't contain even a word from the Prophet. It speaks to the first person, Allah's commitments to his creation.

Ka'bah and Mosque are the most two sacred place in the world according two Muslims’ belief. Every year a large number of Muslims will visit Ka'bah to pray from God to forgive them from their sins that they committed. God will forgive them from almost of their sins that they have committed before.

Also, Mosque is a very sacred place for Muslims. Almost of their prayers will do in it. Most of the Muslims will go to Mosque for pray. There are five different times to pray in Isalmic religion during the day and night. Also, Muslims will are using to throwing their mourning cermony in it.

At the beginning, Islam had not many followers. The first few people who followed this message were: The Prophet Muhammad's cousin Ali, his servant Zayd ibn Harithah(son of Harithah), his friend Abu Bakr, his wife, and his daughters. They Accepted Islam by testifying that:

There is no Deity (worthy of worship) except Allah (The One True God), and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. This was a key for anyone who wanted to be a Muslim at that time, and it is still remain the same thing for anyone who wanted to be a Muslim now.

At the first time, Muhammad published Islam among his relatives and friends secretly. In the first three years of his mission, forty people (Men and women) accepted Islam. This small group comprised of youth as well as older people. Publishing Islam in the secret way has been continued for three years.

After three years, the Prophet was directed by a recent revelation to start preaching Islam to everyone. Then, he began to recite revelations to people in public and invite them to Islam. The Quraish, leaders of Makkah, took his preaching with hostility. The most hostile and closest to him was his uncle Abu Lahab and his wife. Initially, they and other leaders of Quraish tried to bribe him money and power including an offer to make him king if he was to abandon his message. When this did not work, they tried to convince his uncle Abulahab to accept the best young man of Makkah in place Muhammad and to allow him to kill Muhammad. His uncle tried to persuade him to stop perching, but the Prophet said: Oh uncle, if they were put the sun in my right hand, and the moon in my left hand to stop me from preaching Islam, I would never stop. I will keep preaching until Allah makes Islam prevail or I die.

At the end of his mission, the Prophet was blessed with several hundred followers (men and women) of Islam. Thousands listened to him at the mosque and listened to his sermon.

Islam mentioned twenty-five Prophets in the Qur'an by names. It is also mentions four previously revealed scriptures: Suhoof(Pages) of Ibrahim,(Abraham), Taurat (Torah) as revealed to Prophet Moses, Zuboor (Psalms) as revealed to the Prophet David, and Injeel(Evangel) as revealed to the Prophet Jesus(Pbuh). All in All, Islam requires belief in all Prophets and revealed scriptures as a part of the Articles faith. Muhammad greatly respected as the model of Qur'anic behavior. Muslims mention his name by adding "peace be upon him." a phrase used with the name of all Prophets.

All in All, Islam started in a cave with a few number of followers, but it improved and published among the people till most of the people knew about it. It began with two followers, but they increased step by step until a large numbers. There are 16,000,000 Muslims in the world now, and this number will increase day after day. Islam from the unusual relegion has become the second largest religion in the world.

What is the working class dream?

While some people dedicate their lives to escaping their working class backgrounds others have no interest in climbing a class ladder, says Laurie Taylor in his weekly column.

Back in the early 70s, the most played record on the Essex Students' Union juke box was We've Got to Get Out of This Place by The Animals. I remember thinking when I heard this news that there was something wonderfully ironic about so many middle class students being able to enjoy the privilege of higher education while simultaneously protesting about the nature of the institution which sought to provide it.

But I also know that my irritation was strengthened by memories of people who really did feel trapped by their circumstances, who desperately desired to get out of their allocated space.

Nobody fought harder than Tony Williams. We were classmates at secondary school for several years before we became friends (I learned later that he'd been afraid to speak to me because I was what he called "a bit la-de-dah"). But even before we started sharing a social life, before we started hanging around chip shops drinking illegal pints of mild and shouting ourselves hoarse in the Boys Pen at Anfield, I knew that Tony was very different from other boys in the class.

For a start there was his handwriting. When ever I turned around during a particularly boring part of a History or RI lesson, I'd spot Tony writing his name over and over again on a blank page in his exercise book. Tony Williams. Tony Williams. Tony Williams. Tony Williams.

And if that was not strange enough, there was also the peculiar bussiness of his voice. When I first knew Tony he'd had a basic raucous Liverpool accent. But by the time he got to the fifth form, he'd developed a much softer tone and odd way rounding his mouth as he spoke as though he was consciously forming each syllable.

I only discovered what lay behind these peculiar practices when we were firm enough friends to talk about what we might do when we left school. After I'd rather airily talked about the bohemian future I fancied for myself, Tony began, very slowly, to give me a picture of his intended future.

And what a picture! Tony slowly told me that what he wanted most of all in the world was to become middle-class. He wanted to get out of the poor terrace house in Bootle which he shared with his widowed dad and gradually climb the social ladder until finally he could move into his dream, into a large detached old house in a country village in the South of England. He told me that he could see this house with absolute clarity, see the ways in which the shadows of the large trees in the garden fell across the manicured lawn, see the tray of full spirit bottles sitting on the antique dresser in the corner of the oak-beamed living room.

It was the desire, the obsession, to realise this dream which informed almost every aspect of Tony's life. If he was going to escape from working class life then he'd have to learn to pass as middle class. This was the reason behind all those hours of handwriting practise, all those hours he'd devoted to replacing his crude scouse accent with a soft slightly over-articulated whisper.

This was also the reason why Tony was only ever to be found reading good books (Dickens and Austen) rather than the Hank Jansense which circulated in the playground. It was the reason he played Mozart at home on his wind-up gramophone rather than Frankie Laine and Johnny Ray. It was I believe the reason he married a lower middle class girl called Veronica who came from the posh part of crosby.

And it was a success story. If you want to find Tony now, all you need to do is drive to a small village in Cambridgeshire, look out for a large detached country house, and there he'll be, sitting back in a well-upholstered armchair, a large whisky in his hand, Cosi Fan Tutte on the Cd player.

He's very successful solicitor, a man of means, a local figure. He has realised his dream. He's got out of the working class and become so thoroughly middle class that one-one would ever imagine his origins.

But not all working-class children and teenagers ascribe to that dream. Despite being offered a whole set of choice points in their lives where they might leave their proletarian roots behind and take a different track to their parents, they still decide, sometimes unthinkingly, to stay where they feel comfortable, to stay true to their class of origin.
