What is podcast?

A podcast is a series of either audio or video files that have been recorded, then downloaded via the websites. Basically, it is accessing media files over the internet.

How did it start?

Podcasting emerged in the public in late 2004. The apple company has dramatic impact in extending what is so-called podcast by releasing iTunes 4.9 that was a real native support for the podcast in 2005. This made receiving podcast more suitable. Also, it effectively ended with a great advancement of the podcast by independent developers. This company influenced so many independent developers to use this service. Moreover, Trademark applications were another useful way in publicizing the serve of broadcast into the public. The United States can be listed as a first country in capitalizing podcast. According to Wikipedia, “By February 2007, there had been 24 attempts to register trademarks containing the word "PODCAST" in United States.”

Is podcasting useful?

Podcasting can be very beneficial source in public services. For example, it is a way for the organizations to distribute audio or video of their activities. Also, it can be used as a youth media. Podcasting has become common for the youth media organizations to bring youth point of views to the world and wider audience. Moreover, podcasting can benefit people in educational and academic agendas. For instance, students and teachers can share information anytime with anyone. Pedagogically, podcasting can be the best an easiest way to increase knowledge and improve the system of education. Both teachers and students can use podcast as a tool for their teaching, learning, and studying purposes. For instance, the teachers can record their lectures and have their students listened to them before the lesson. Besides of that, it can be a good way for those students whom they missed the class because of any reasons in order to catch what their classmates studied. If a student is absent, he or she can download the lesson that his or her teacher has recorded. Furthermore, entertainment, news, music, politics, and publicity and marketing are other fields that can be gained via podcasting.

Interestingly, AUI-S almost starts creating a podcast within its campus. Hopefully, it can benefit AUIS and its students in numerous ways. It can expose the AUI-S students to journalism and new media concepts. Regularly, it will be common and a commodity tool for the students in using it for the variety of ways as I mentioned above.

My opinion toward podcasting

In my perspective, podcasting is a necessary tool in communities. It is the best and easiest way to be used in many grounds, such as education, entertainment, politics and etc. I really found this program as a commodity tool especially in the education institutions. If I were person in the board of any organizations, I would definitely recommend this program for its benefits are numerous. Although I experienced this program for about two minutes only, I count it as the most enjoyable one. I strongly recommend my instructors at the AUI-S to use podcasting as the same as they use Moodle. We really need this program, too.

Advantage and Disadvantages of the podcasting

I had already mentioned what the advantages of podcasting are. What can we say about the disadvantages of the podcasting is that as usual it is technology. Whenever we talk about technology, we can specify advantages and disadvantages of it. One of the disadvantages of the podcasting is that its publishers are almost independent. So, they might have the ability to publish whatever they want including, personal attacking, interfering personal issues, and spreading rumors. Basically, it is saying without sensor. Therefore, it might cause social problems among the societies. Another disadvantage that podcast has is that it takes time until we can download an audio or video file.

Summary of an Interview with John Collins about Green Storage

Basically, Collins addressed variety of different answers to different questions in an interview that the Search Storage.co.uk podcast on the green storage made with him. Mostly, Collin explained the ratio of the high particular good scene in the concept of the Green Storage. Moreover, he addressed the reasons behind the involvement of the Green Storage. What he mostly focused on in this area was that how could we come up with the idea of saving power. He advised people to try the best finding ways to save power. Moreover, he explained the impacts and consequences that power has on the environment. Furthermore, Collin stated some other points on the Green Storage due to its fluctuations on price. He explained how much the price of the Green Storage changed via the time. He also identified the quality of the storage, too.
